For two people: hand-building or the wheel?

The hand-building experience lets you work at the table and talk while shaping your own pieces. You might choose related projects, such as two breakfast bowls or small plates with different textures, adapted to the technique and time available.

The wheel experience has a maximum of two participants. It is an option if you want to learn how to centre clay and watch it change as it turns. You do not need hand-building experience first; come ready to practise rather than expecting to master the wheel in one session.

What happens during the two hours?

At the studio, we introduce the technique and help you choose a manageable project. You then work with guidance, learning how to build a base, lift the walls or adjust the rim, depending on your chosen session.

There is no competition to finish the most pieces. You can ask questions and try a movement again. The number and complexity of pieces depend on each person's pace and the technique.

Birthdays and plans with friends

For a birthday, hen party or get-together, ask about a private pottery session. La Mesa can host up to ten people in the studio; an off-site format can be discussed for groups of up to forty.

Tell us the number of participants, preferred date and occasion. Timing, duration and details are agreed according to the format and availability. If you would like to include food, drinks or a particular idea, check with us before making arrangements.

Your keepsake is collected later

The pieces cannot leave with you at the end of the activity. They need to dry and go through finishing and firing. The studio confirms when they are ready and how to arrange collection.
